On behalf of the Board of Directors and the more than 200 members of the Ira Dorsey Scholarship Endowment Fund, Inc. (IDSEF), we thank you for your interest in partnering with us to enhance the lives of people across the greater Northern Virginia area.

The IDSEF operates exclusively for charitable and educational purposes and annually delivers on this commitment by providing fundingto assist groups and individuals who endeavor to uplift communities across Washington D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia.  In fact, this year we have plans to continue this support by supplying needed funds to Supporting Partnerships and Resources for Kids (SPARK) services, Prince William County, VA; Collect for Kids services, Fairfax County VA; Alpha Academy, Haiti; and Borromeo Housing, Inc, Alexandria VA.

I’m proud to share that, despite the upheaval 2020 brought to many of our lives, the IDSEF remained faithful to its charge and awarded nine academic scholarships to area youth. These outstanding young adults persisted in the face of adversity not seen in generations, and with the assistance of our partners, we rewarded their efforts. We are committed to doing it again this year! Since its establishment, the fund has awarded close to $300,000 in scholarships to more than 200 students.

As the economic divide between the “haves and have-nots” continues to widen and education costs soar, the work of the IDSEF and its partners will become increasingly more important.
